A few things of note:
The estimate provided using this calculator
does not
represent a final determination, or actual award, of financial assistance, or a final net price; it is an
estimate
.
The estimate is based on cost of attendance and financial aid provided to students in a previous year. Cost of attendance and financial aid availability change year to year and student to student.
The estimates generated apply to U.S. citizens and permanent residents only; international students are typically not eligible for federal or state aid and should
contact Admissions for more information
.
First, we need to know a bit about you/the student.

Great, thanks!
Let's start with what an estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) includes. The Cost of Attendance is a federal financial aid term that must include these distinct categories of costs:
Direct Costs
- paid directly to the college
• Tuition & Fees
• Living Expenses (if living on campus)
Indirect Costs
- not paid to the college; these costs can vary greatly by student
• Living Expenses (if living off campus)
• Books & Supplies
• Transportation
• Miscellaneous
The Cost of Attendance does not factor in financial aid.
We will get there next!
For now, below you will see your personalized estimated Cost of Attendance categories:
Cost of Attendance
Note: For Living Expenses and all Indirect Costs, you can adjust these estimates up or down if you've calculated a more precise number, based your circumstances.
Direct Costs
Tuition & Fees
This is based on one year of full-time undergraduate enrollment and includes student fees (tech fee, student association fee). This estimate is the same for all students.
Indirect Costs*
Living Expenses
You selected on-campus. Cost = average dorm room and meal plan.
You selected off campus independent. Cost = average local rent and groceries.
You selected off campus with family. Cost = average cost of supporting a dependent.
Indirect Costs*
Books and Supplies
This can include textbooks, pens, paper, etc. This estimate is the same for all students.
Transportation
This can include the costs of flights, driving, parking, and related insurance. This estimate is the same for all students.
Miscellaneous
This includes anything else not listed above, such as clothing, toiletries, or medical expenses. This estimate is the same for all students.

Next, let's talk about financial aid.
Next, let's talk about financial aid.
Got it. I'm ready to keep going.
Need-Based Government Financial Aid
How is financial aid calculated?
Colleges will use two numbers from the FAFSA:
Your Student Aid Index, or SAI.
The SAI is not just family income; it is a calculation of various financial numbers that can impact your need for assistance to pay for college. This number can be as low as -1,500 and as high as 999,999. A negative SAI indicates you have a higher financial need.
Your Pell Grant eligibility.
The most common type of federal financial aid is the
Pell Grant
, which is an amount as high as $7,395 for the current aid year. This is not a loan; it is money provided to you, interest-free, by the federal government to lower your Cost of Attendance.
Luckily, the FAFSA has a quick and easy tool that will walk you through the criteria used to calculate these numbers and provide you with an estimated SAI and Pell Grant amount before you submit an official FAFSA. You will use this to retrieve these numbers to enter below.
Next Steps:
1. Go to the
FAFSA Financial Aid Estimator tool
and follow the prompts (this will open in a new window so you do not close out of this form). This should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
2. Make note of the
SAI
and
Pell Grant
amounts that the tool provides you. The results should look something like this, with the necessary numbers circled:
3. Enter this information below.
Estimated SAI
If your SAI is negative, enter it with the negative sign (ex: -500, not 500).
Estimated Pell Grant
Interest-free federal grant money. This is not a loan.
Estimated State Grant
Indiana's need-based aid program is called the Frank O'Bannon Grant.

I'm ready to enter my academic profile.
Institutional Merit Aid
CCSJ offers some academic
scholarships
based on a combination of GPA and test scores, renewable up to 8 semesters, fall and spring. These scholarships require:
• maintaining a 3.0 GPA while enrolled at CCSJ
• enrolling as a full-time student
To find out if you meet the criteria for any of these scholarships, provide your academic profile below.

With this academic profile, your
maximum*
academic scholarship eligibility is:
CCSJ Presidential Scholarship
CCSJ Trustee Scholarship
CCSJ Marcia J. Ross Scholarship
*Merit scholarship amounts may vary.
This is because they are awarded after all other possible grants and scholarships have been deducted from the cost of attendance. Also, the total amount of gift aid awarded cannot exceed the cost of tuition. Therefore, the amount of merit aid varies by overall financial aid package.
This academic profile does not meet any of CCSJ's academic scholarship minimums.
Ok, let's calculate your Net Price!

Estimated Net Price
Below is your customized net price for one year of attending Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Keep in Mind:
About 95% of our students receive financial aid, and all admitted students are automatically considered for additional institutional aid through a variety of
scholarships and grant programs
.
Additional Potential Funding
CCSJ may award additional merit or need-based funding after admission, depending on factors such as GPA, test scores, athletics, academic interests, etc.
Contact Admissions for more information
.
Students with higher financial need may also be eligible for an additional federal grant called the
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
and/or
CCSJ scholarships
.
The FAFSA Financial Aid Estimator may provide you with an estimated amount of
Federal Work Study
. This is not guaranteed funding, as it requires applying for and working a designated Federal Work Study job. If you do not qualify for Federal Work Study, CCSJ also offers regular-wage student jobs.
If you earn scholarships outside of CCSJ, report them to Financial Aid when you enroll to ensure they can be used at CCSJ.
Additional Potential Costs
Technology such as a personal computer, software, and equipment.
Some academic and extracurricular programs require additional fees. Examples: athletics, study abroad, lab fees, studio fees.
If you choose to accept federal loans, you will be responsible for an annual $132 loan processing fee while enrolled. And, depending on the type of loan you choose (
subsidized or unsubsidized
), you will be responsible for a portion or all of your loan's interest, plus the initial amount.
I would like someone from Calumet College of St. Joseph to follow up with me about my estimate.
